StarTimes to broadcast the “Concert for a Healthy Planet” in support of WHO

Africa’s leading digital TV operator StarTimes will broadcast the Concert for a Healthy Planet: Ricky Kej LIVE at One Page Spotlight event in support of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for WHO.

Concert For A Healthy Planet

On Earth Day, April 22, 2020, 5 Grammy® Award-Winners led by Grammy® Award Winner Ricky Kej, and an ensemble of 40 stellar musicians will come together for an online Concert for a Healthy Planet.

Ricky Kej has joined forces with WHO, WWF, UNCCD, UNESCO MGIEP, Earth Day Network and One Page Spotlight for a one of a kind Concert for a Healthy Planet.

The online event supports the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and will include 40 musicians from 6 countries ; among them South African flautist Wouter Kellerman, Senegalese singer Baaba Maal, American singers Laura Dickinson and Lonnie Park, Indian instrumentalist Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, and the Mzansi Youth Choir from Soweto.

UNESCO MGIEP ‘Global Ambassador for Kindness’ and UNICEF ‘Celebrity Supporter’ Ricky Kej said: “Given the current situation, an online concert is the best way for musicians to express ourselves. I am honored and humbled to collaborate with such accomplished musicians from around the world, this is truly a global musical experience. All the musicians have performed from their own homes to encourage #StayHomeStaySafe. I am grateful to StarTimes for this collaboration, and I hope this is the start for many more such collaborations.”

Since the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak, StarTimes has launched a series of initiatives meant to raise awareness on the pandemic, from promoting access to official information to creating awareness-raising videos based on WHO advices.

The COVID-19 pandemic is a challenge for all of us wherever we are. The Concert for a Healthy Planet: Ricky Kej LIVE at One Page Spotlight will be broadcast on the free-to-air channel ST Guide and on the StarTimes ON mobile application on April 22 at 4:30pm CAT.

It will also be shown live on the official social media channels of WWF, Earth Day Network, UNCCD, UNFCCC and on leading streaming platforms.
